At Maya Data Privacy, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our latest feature: In-Place Time Slicing for the FI (Financial Accounting) Module of the SAP S/4HANA system — now available as part of our in-house solution, AppSafe .

Why It Matters
As organizations grow, historical financial data accumulates rapidly, often slowing down critical processes. Our new In-Place Time Slicing feature directly addresses this challenge by allowing users to work with a lean, clean, and focused dataset - without physically archiving or removing data. This helps to take a subset of the production system for critical activities like testing, training, simulation and innovation projects. Such an approach will result in fast turnaround time, and less issues due to real business data representative in these systems.
Key Benefits
Size reduction with production copy for test, dev, training, innovation sandbox etc.
Reduced cost due to less size for infrastructure for preparing lower environments
Reduced time with RAG based AI usage for enhancing consulting efficiency
Can be combined with data scrambling to ensure security and compliance
Supports GDPR compliance by applying data minimization principles - involving only what's necessary
Designed for Privacy-First Landscapes
With AppSafe’s deep AI footprint, this feature enables teams to slice and anonymize data before provisioning it into lower environments - dramatically reducing risk and cost without sacrificing functionality.
In-Place Time Slicing + scrambling = Smarter, Safer, and Faster SAP Data
Process to Initiate Slicing in App Safe
Step 1: Create a Configuration Set
The Configuration set will contain the connection details of the S/4 HANA system to be sliced.
Step 2: Create a Slicing Utility Set
Click on “Create” in the Utility Sets screen to initiate creation of a Utility Set.

Select “Creation Mode” as “AI Generated Slicing”

Enter the following Slicing Parameters in the UI
Client – It is a numeric input field corresponding to the Client field in S/4HANA
Application Component – Currently support’s FI – Financial Accounting module of S/4HANA. In future this will be extended for other modules like MM, SD etc.
Time Slice Period (Year’s) - This indicates how many years of data will be sliced. This data will exclude the current year.

Example: In the above screen Client “100”, Application Component “FI” and Time Slice Period “2 Years” is used.
The screen Utility 2/2 displays the list of tables from the FI Module which have been sliced using the in-place time slicing.

Step 3: Create an Execution Set
User can create an execution set as done currently using the Configuration and the Slicing Utility Set.
This execution set can also include other steps for anonymisation of data.
For example, in the below execution set, the first step is the slicing step, and second step is the anonymisation step.

Step 4: Execute an App Safe Run
User can select an execution set and execute a run as done currently.
Conclusion
The launch of In-Place Time Slicing for the FI Module marks a significant leap forward in Maya Data Privacy’s mission to deliver smart, secure, and scalable data management solutions for SAP S/4HANA landscapes. By enabling organizations to work with lean, time-bound, and anonymous datasets directly within the system, our On-Prem product AppSafe empowers IT and finance teams to build faster, safer, and more efficient non-production environments - whether for testing, development, analytics, training or other innovations.
This feature not only enhances system performance and compliance but also simplifies the complexities of managing large volumes of financial data in a privacy-sensitive, audit-ready way.
We’re excited to bring this capability to our customers and look forward to helping you unlock new levels of efficiency and control in your SAP ecosystems.
